Biography

VICTORIA BANKS was named 2010 Female Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA). Her debut CD When You Can Fly made her the most nominated female artist of 2009 with CCMA nods for Female Artist, Rising Star, Songwriter, Album, Single and Producer of the Year. She has toured with superstars from Reba to Randy Travis, has been labeled “one of the best songwriters in the business” by Music Row Magazine, and her Jessica Simpson singles “Come on Over” and “Remember That” were respectively the highest new artist debut in Billboard history and the #1 most downloaded song on iTunes. She penned the ASCAP and SOCAN award-winning Sara Evans hit “Saints & Angels”, Johnny Reid’s CCMA Song of the Year “Dance With Me,” One More Girl’s BCCMA song of the year “When it Ain’t Rainin’,” the chart-topping “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” for Doc Walker and Sara Evans’ current single “Can’t Stop Loving You” (a duet with Isaac Slade of The Fray). Raised in Muskoka, Ontario, Victoria now lives in Nashville where she continues to write for other artists as a staff songwriter at Nashville’s RareSpark Media Group. “Indigo,” the highly anticipated follow up project to her 2011 sophomore CD “Never Be the Same,” will be released in October on the Fontana North label.

Wrote “Come On Over” (Jessica Simpson) -peaked #18, highest debuting first single in Billboard country history (ASCAP award recipient). Also wrote “Remember That” (Jessica Simpson) -most downloaded single on iTunes chart on album’s release.

Wrote 12 singles released to North American radio in 12 months during 2009/10. (Additional cuts and singles by Kristy Lee Cook, Terri Clark, Julie Roberts, Jesse Lee etc.) Had 3 top 5 singles and 2 top 20 singles on Canadian radio last year (including the 2 most recurrent Canadian singles of 2009). Includes CCMA song of the year “Dance With Me” (Johnny Reid), Juno winner “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” (Doc Walker). and BCCMA song of the year “When It Ain’t Raining” (One More Girl).

Career long, every cut on radio-releasing artists has been singled except one.

Released 2 albums on the EMI Canada/OnRamp label as an artist since 2009 (nominated for 13 CCMAs, a Canadian Radio Music Award & a Canadian Indie Award). Several top 20 singles and CMT Canada videos accompanied the records.

Toured Canada as the opener for Reba McEntire in 2010 & 2011.
