Mickey Guyton Performs "All American" at the DNC

Last week, Mickey Guyton wowed viewers of the Democratic National Convention with a performance of “All American”, a song she co-wrote with me, Karen Kosowski, and Emma-lee. As a Canadian who spent years earning my U.S. citizenship, it was an incredibly surreal moment for me to watch this on TV and to be a part of something so significant to the country I worked so hard to be a part of. I know we don’t all agree on things especially where politics are concerned, but as the song says: we’ve got the same stars, the same stripes, and after all, ain’t we all All-American?
