Sundance
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by the Bluebird Cafe to perform a “Bluebird At Sundance” songwriters’ show alongside my dear friends and co-writers Emily Shackelton and Phil Barton.
What a dream it was to play a set of sold-out shows in a gorgeous open-air amphitheater on the side of a mountain at Robert Redford’s Sundance resort in Utah. And what an audience…there was no roof to raise, but if there had been one, they would have blown it off! (CLICK HERE to see a video clip of our soundcheck, and HERE for a stage POV video of Phil getting the audience going.)
All 3 of us were able to bring our significant others along, - which NEVER happens - so that was particularly special. During the day, we hiked trails cut into the mountainside, stuffed ourselves with delicious gourmet food, and spent a couple of hours riding the ski lift all the way to the top to drink in the beautiful view of snowy peaks in all directions.
During the shows, I brought my hubby Dave up on the stage to sing a duet - it’s been 8 years since we’ve been able to do that, since he’s always at home putting the kids to bed during my shows - and Phil brought his girlfriend Dana up to sing one too. Afterwards, we all sat in the log-cabin Owl Bar sharing drinks and stories with some of the local folks, which was a blast.
What a great way to refuel our tanks…now we’re ready go back in and write a few hundred more songs!
